Topic: New law for humane treatment of tethered dogs

Governor Jay Inslee officially signed SSB 5356 into law yesterday. The new law, effective July 23, 2017, adds several new conditions to constraining dogs on a tether that are meant to ensure the animal's safe and humane treatment. The document is in PDF form and can be found by doing a search for bill 5356 on the Washington State Legislature web site.

Finally, Oly does something useful.  Is there a tax involved?

The 2017 Pet Protection Tax.  (PPT)  This will go into the States General Fund and be used elsewhere by WA State Govt.

I wish they were more specific about how LONG an unsupervised dog can be tethered. Pretty vague but it is a step in the right direction.
